Ruth Blattenberger - President
This is the PURPOSE of the United Methodist Women's group:
The organized unit of United Methodist Women
shall be a community of women whose purpose is:
To know God
To experience freedom
as whole persons through Jesus Christ
To develop a creative, supportive fellowship
To expand concepts
of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
The United Methodist Women of
the United States held an assembly in May in California with 7,000 women in attendance. A group from New Jersey made the journey.
The Board of Global Ministries calls this meeting every four years in various locations so that women who are committed to
mission can be resources and energized.
Some nationwide projects include:
Health Kits - we
gave 45
Prayer Shawls - given to ill people
Repairers of the Breach - in response
to Hurricane Katrina when UMW confernce treasurers revised their budgets to give to those in Louisiana. New Jersey sent
$10,000.
Ubuntu Explorers is a new international mission travel opportunity for United Methodist Women.
A newly created online will expand opportunities for young women.

Shaped by the Word - The transforming power of God is available to every Christian, yet the transformed life does not happen by accident.
To be formed in Christ and to have Christ formed in us is clearly a gift of God. And yet, there are requirements made of us
if we are to receive the gift. One of the most important resources for spiritual formation is the Bible. The biblical reading
for each week will be the scripture lessons for that Sunday’s worship service (listed elsewhere in the bulletin). The
expectation is that each participant will read one or all of those texts each day throughout the week and then come together
on Sunday from 9:45 to 10:45 and discuss these texts. My hope is that this gathering will keep us moving toward the One who
continually urges us onward in our pilgrimage toward wholeness, maturity, perfection in love – toward God. It’s
up for discussion, but I intend to facilitate the group up through May 18, the Sunday before Memorial Day Weekend.
We hope you can join Pastor Mark each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. for this very special study.
